Tagalog Number Systems

I know that there are two different number systems in Tagalog: one that is entirely made out of Tagalog words and one that is influenced by Spanish. A few examples of the former would be numbers like isa, dalawa, tatlo, apat, etc. And their Tagalog-Spanish counterparts would be uno, dos, tres, kwatro, etc. The one thing that I don't understand is how each system is used differently.
